The only thing time has taught me is that you’ll never understand
the type of man that I am before you here I stand
unrecognized and misunderstood
even if you had the time to figure me out I hardly doubt you could
I grew up where the streets were corrupt
placed in a position where it’s easy to get stuck
in the wrong lifestyle and walk amongst the wrong crowd
I have no hope for the future of nothing I’m proud
my life’s a portrait that lacks color it’s culture I seek
I try to rise but I can’t seem to get out of my seat
everyday is a cycle I feel like I’m stuck on repeat
the truth is in my words my lifestyles far from sweet
help is out of reach so I can only help myself
where do I begin my heads a mess from all the pain I’ve felt
I have learned from time that you must grow to know yourself
without knowing who you are your unknown to everyone else

so here I am again walking down the road of life
for everything I’ve gained I have learned to sacrifice
cash rules that’s why everything has a price
it’s a universal language that we can all read and write
not a product of my environment I took myself out the equation
I’m learning from mistakes while you continue to make them
I’m not perfect I would never strive to be
perfect is something that will never define me
if you lack flaws and that’s what you claim to be
then you’ll never relate in what we know as reality
the truth is that we’re living in a flawed society
just because your eyes are open doesn’t mean that you can see
I have learned to understand what’s going on in my surroundings
the truth is hard to swallow and at times it is astounding
I have learned from time that things are never as they seem
it seems I’m in a nightmare and far from a dream
